What Is Flexible Graphite?
What is flexible graphite?
Flexible graphite-also called expanded graphite or exfoliated graphite-is made of purified natural graphite flakes.
During the manufacturing process, the flakes are mixed with a strong oxidizing acid to produce graphite intercalation compounds. These expand due to the sudden application of high temperatures. The resulting product called expanded graphite is mechanically compressed into molded products, mainly graphite foil. Although it still shows the unique properties of natural graphite, such as its excellent electrical conductivity, compared with raw materials, expanded graphite foil also has the characteristics of flexibility, softness, and ease of processing.
Graphite Gaskets Manufacturers provide a wide range of Graphite Gaskets for different applications. They are highly reliable, even under extreme operating conditions. Therefore, they are the first choice for sealing applications for long-term use at high temperatures.
Industrial manufacturing processes have become more and more complex, and the requirements for the materials used have become higher and higher. In particular, higher process temperatures, reduced equipment downtime, and improved product quality require the best material solutions. Graphite Gaskets made of expanded natural graphite support end-users around the world to produce high-quality products for safe processes.
