What is a metal jacketed gasket?
The metal jacketed gasket is a gasket with a soft and flexible core, which is surrounded by a metal sheath, which completely or partially surrounds the filling material. The Pass separator can be integrated into the gasket, or it can be integrated or welded into the gasket. The jacket may be corrugated.
Gaskets are widely used in every industry that handles pressurized or non-pressurized liquids and gases. They can be found in most equipment containing fluids, such as pipes, tanks, heat exchangers, internal combustion engines, etc. The form and grade of gaskets vary to suit specific applications. Metal jacketed gaskets are proven sealing elements and can be used in equipment structures. However, at temperatures up to 550 °C, metal and soft materials are increasingly replacing gaskets, such as grooved gaskets.
At temperatures above 500 °C, such as in hot air zones, metal jacketed gaskets can still resist solid metal gaskets, such as welded ring gaskets. Metal jacketed washers can also provide rounded corners as a frame. In flanges with tongue and groove or male and female faces, a gasket with a jacket should be installed at the joint so that the tongue or male face rests on the smooth surface of the gasket.
